Easter 2011

We had a great Easter this year! As always it was very busy; it felt like all we did is run. On Saturday we colored Easter Eggs and headed to my mom's house for our annual Easter Egg Hunt. I love that we have our own egg hunt. We have gone to a few of the local egg hunts in the past were always disappointed. All the kids made out with a huge haul. Lots of candy, toys, and more fake tattoos than we know what to do with.....

Easter morning we waited for Mike to get home from working a double shift. :( Then we found the eggs and baskets that the Easter Bunny hid. Paige found her basket under a chair in the spare bedroom and Allison's was in the dishwasher. Silly Bunny!

After that we headed to Gardner Village and had brunch at the Gathering Place. It was nice, but crowded as always. I think next year we will head to Market Street instead.

Then we went to Grandma and Grandpa's to see the great Easter baskets that Grandma made them. We then went home where Mike took a quick hour nap and then headed to Grandpa Old Guy's house for dinner and yet more Easter baskets.

MS Fundraiser

Today we went to the First Annual Fundraising Event for our MS Team, The Little Champs. Amie, who has been my best friend for years, was diagnosed with MS several years ago. Every year since she has been the Team Captain for our team. She has done such a great job raising money to help find a cure. This year they had a motorcycle rally/poker game. They also had booths and prizes to give away.

Although we didn't have a motorcycle to ride we still had fun! Grandma EJ and Uncle David joined us too.

Thanks for the great time Amie!

Trent and Amber's Wedding

Yesterday we drove to Wadley Farms in Lindon for Trent (Mike's cousin) and Amber's wedding. I loved the place they chose, it was put together really well. They are such a cute couple and we wish them the best in their new adventure.
It had been awhile since I had seen them and although we didn't get a chance to catch up, it was nice to see them. Mike visited them a few weeks ago when he was in Phoenix for work and had the opportunity to go flying with Trent. It sounds like they are both happy there and Trent seems to be a great flight instructor.
Amazingly the weather held out and it was a beautiful day. They had a candy bar that the kids LOVED!!

What we've been up to.... in no particular order.

So my goal is to try and stay on top of posting on this. So far I have failed miserably....

The past few months have been very busy for us. Lot's of ice skating, Mike traveling more than he has in the past, and I'm still trying to adjust to my new shift. I thought it would be a quick transition, but it hasn't happened yet.

We celebrated St. Patty's day by making our own kilts for our annual party at the Moffitt's. I think they turned out pretty well. The girls looked adorable in theirs. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of Paige, she was too busy playing with the kids.

Paige had a fun sleepover at the rink with Miss Emma.

We made a trip to the zoo..

Delivered lots of Girl Scout Cookies....

Attended a Girl Scout Thinking Day program....

Mike and I went on a Valentine's Day cruise with Mike and Robin. We ate steak and lobster out on their sail boat....

Winter Games 2011

Paige had a great competition this year at the Winter Games. She competed two programs at the Freeskate 2 level. This year it was up in Logan and since she had a program both days and a early practice time we decided to stay up there. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express and I was actually impressed with the hotel (which is not always easy because I am really critical of hotels after working in one for so long.) Our friends Greg and Carly came up and spent the night with us and we had Grandma and Great Grandma too. The kids were able to swim for a bit in the hotel and had a great time.

On Friday Paige skated her Artistic Program and got the Gold. She forgot a little bit of the program, but pulled it off! :) The next day she skated her Freestyle Program and took the Silver. Great job Paige, we are so proud of you!

She has now qualified to go to the State Games of America in San Diego. Now we have to figure out how to make that happen.

Catching up...

So I have been horrible with keeping up with the blog, but it has been a busy holiday season. I decided to compile the pics into a movie because it is faster than uploading them to the site. So here's my attempt at catching up....

We unfortunately lost Great Grandpa Art late last year. We will really miss him! He was such a sweet man. We has a lot of family in for the funeral and although it wasn't for a great reason it was nice to see everyone and we took some quick group photos.

We had Thanksgiving at our house this year and I think it turned out pretty well. We were just missing Grandma Holt, but I'm glad she was in St. George with the family. Christmas Eve was at my mom's and as always it was great. We had a great dinner and then opened presents. Christmas morning the kids woke up to a ton of presents. Paige was happy to get her American Girl doll she wanted and Allison got a Baby All Gone. After presents we went to my brothers for brunch and then lounged at his house all day. The day after Christmas we went to Mike's dad's house and had another great dinner and more presents. New Years was at our house again this year. We love our New Years sleepovers. Mike prepared an awesome breakfast the following morning.

Here are some of the other things we have done....

-Paige won the school Reflections contest. We find out tomorrow how she did at the next level.
-Paige and I attended a fancy tea party for Girl Scouts.
-Allison started Preschool and absolutely loves it. She loves her "packpack" and her teacher Ms. Katie.
-I got a new job at the hospital. My new hours are 11-730 so I will be able to spend some time with Mike and the kids.
-We made cookies, candy, gingerbread houses, and decorated the house.
-Mike and I went antique shopping and found a couple pieces of furniture for the house.
-We went to Zoolights.
-We saw Tangled. Both girls loved it and Allison actually sat through it. Woo hoo! We can go to movies again.
-The girls loved playing in the snow.
-Paige had her first ski lesson and went to Snowbird with her school.
-Lots of ice skating.
-Paige had a school program and each grade sang two songs. She did great!

Wasatch Freedom Classic

We are so proud of Paige! She competed yesterday at the Wasatch Freedom Classic and took first place!! She was doing a new program and competed at a higher level against four other girls. She was so amazing! She had to be on the ice at 730 am and because it was in Ogden we had to get up a lot earlier. She had her practice session and fell more times than I have ever seen her fall. It was so crazy and it rattled her confidence quite a bit. However, she took the ice just after 1000 am and nailed it. Way to go Paige!! We love you!
